Imagine moving to a town that has something you really want, like a nearby golf course in Markdale, more wooded areas and walking trails in Eugenia, or a faster commute to work. How would that impact your lifestyle?
Of course, you might love living where you are right now, but if you’re looking for a change, here are some tips for finding a new area that fits your desired lifestyle:
Make a list
Write down all the things you want in an area that you live in. For example, you might want to live in a more bustling area like Collingwood with nearby access to public transit, theatre, ski hills, and shopping. Or, you might want to live in the secluded hamlets like Wodehouse or Vandeleur. The point of this exercise is to clearly define your ideas, down to the neighborhood.

Go on weekend scouting missions
Check out everything that these amazing small towns have to offer. Go for a walk. Check out the local amenities (parks, shopping, nearby golf course, etc.) Look at the types of homes in the area, are there new subdivisions that catch your eye, or are you looking for something on the outskirts of town?

Talk to the neighbours
In Grey County – everybody knows everybody. Network, ask around, and try to chat with a few of the residents. On your weekend scouting missions, if you see someone walking a dog, for example, say hello. Strike up a conversation. Get an idea of what it’s like to live in the area.

Get the facts
There is a lot of data available on these towns and here at Sea & Ski, we pride ourselves on providing a lot of it to you. Check out our information about these communities, or cast your own investigations to find what’s right for you!

Check affordability
There’s no sense trying to get into an area where the homes are priced way beyond what you’re willing to spend. Conversely, the type of neighbourhood you can afford may surprise you. The more you know, the better your experience will go! Especially during these unique times, it’s important to keep your finger on the pulse of local real estate trends.
