Markdale Hospital East Wing

The 9th Line Kite Festival will take place from noon-5pm on Sept. 18th & 19th in Grey Highlands.

The event will be held on the 36 acre Nicholls Farm, at 135091 9th Line, between Markdale and Kimberley. Event organizer, Dave Meslin & part-time Eugenia, resident says the event will resemble the Toronto Windfest which he founded in 2010. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own kites and make their own for the free admission, family event.

In a recent interview, Meslin said, “We’re also going to have these out-of-town guests who are bringing really big, really expensive kites and doing choreographed stunt flying or just flying a really huge and inflatable kite that’s you know, some of them the size of an RV.”

There will also be free tables for vendors, food, arts, and crafts. Pineapple Sage Fine Foods & Catering, and Grey County Apparel Co. will have booths set up. Live music is also a possibilty for the event. To stay up to date visit, 9thline.ca.

People are also encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Social distancing will be followed, though masks are not required they do ask you not to attend if you are not feeling well or have any symptoms of COVID19.
