Overview

The Ravenna Country Market is a welcoming store with a full array of freshly baked treats and tons of treasures. This incredible store is located in the midst of so many fantastic areas close to all outdoor amenities where you can get delicious homemade goods from scratch! The Ravenna Country Market’s location is definitely what sets it aside from others. Many people stop in to take a little break from their active lives of mountain biking, cross country skiing, downhill skiing. Nothing says a treat like a butter tart, but there are tons of other amazing items on the menu to choose from too.

The Ravenna Country Market has been open for generations and has evolved as the area has grown over the years. It is slated as one of the oldest general stores in all of Ontario that is still running today. When owners Roy Genoe and Monica Wolf took over the store in October 2009, they renamed it the Ravenna Country Market. Roy & Monica altered the store to fit the demographic and demand of what the consumers wanted by getting rid of the grocery store aisles, completely renovating the inside and adding the patio. The Ravenna area has developed from being mainly a farming community to a 4 season tourist destination, so many people who are touring through often enjoy eating out at local eateries. Because of this, the country market began not only offering homemade baked goods but gourmet entrees, soups, and sandwiches.

When we sat down with Monica she explained that her favourite part of having the business in Ravenna was the fact that you are able to interact with a full array of different people of all ages passing through. She also finds it extremely special as they welcome both the regular customers and new customers. Monica explained that she is most passionate about creating a welcoming environment that makes customers happy and inclined to come back.

In the area, many are known to exclaim the best butter tart they’ve ever had was at the Ravenna Country Market: no wonder it is one of their best selling products! They are also well known for their cookies, date squares, crumbles, carrot cake, chocolate cake, and fudge. It is also a local favourite stop for freshly made pressed sandwiches and homemade soups. Moreover, they sell products from other local businesses in the area. One of our favourites is Uncle Richards Maple Syrup.

The Ravenna Country Market also caters special events in the Thornbury, Meaford, Collingwood and Blue Mountain area. Contact them at 519-599-2796 for an up to date pricing on catering packages. They go the extra mile to ensure that your big party or intimate gathering is a success.

If you’re on your way to Collingwood from the Beaver Valley make sure to stop in and visit Monica and Roy in the Ravenna Country Market at the Ravenna intersection, 495972 Grey Rd. 2. The country market is definitely worth a day trip in itself for a lovely lunch and some take-home treats for your sweet tooth too.
